The Backstory & Goal

Three months after accepting Jesus as Lord of my life and my best friend, He told me to go tell people about Him. I was very excited… and then absolutely terrified when I was out on the street.

At the time, I was an introverted second year electrical engineering student at University of Waterloo.

As I continued joyfully walking with and putting my trust in Jesus, my faith and confidence continued to grow. A little over a year later, I recognized a deep desire to dedicate my life to loving and caring for others by sharing about the life giving news of Jesus.

I felt God directing me to continue with schooling and engineering work for the time being. I completed a Master’s program in the field of electrical engineering at University of Waterloo and went to work designing x-ray sensors at KA Imaging. During this time I learned even more about who Jesus is and the deep love He has for me and all of God’s children.

A few years ago I again was asking God about doing ministry. I felt God saying to me that 2023 was my sabbatical year. He also reminded me that 30 years of age is when a lot of people in the Bible started their calling (Luke 3:23, Genesis 41:46, 2 Samuel 5:4).

In 2022 my confidence grew that God was calling me into full time ministry soon. I also reconnected with and started dating my now wife Natalie! We married on January 28th, 2023. I am very grateful and thrilled to partner in life including serving Jesus together with her.

Following my 30th birthday this May, I left my engineering job to enter full time ministry. I started off with 40 focused days with God. This was a valuable and wonderful time connecting with our creator, Lord, and saviour. During this time I learned so much. One area He emphasized and taught me about is how to be a great vessel for God’s holy goodness (2 Timothy 2:20-21). Subscribe to the blog for notification of future blog posts… I highly recommend taking time off to have focused quality and connection time with Jesus!

At the end of the 40 days, on July 1st Canada Day, I started outreach ministry in my home town of Haliburton (inspired by Jesus, Luke 4:16). Below is some chalk art Natalie & I did to share the good news!

Part of God’s calling on my life is to share with the people of Japan about the love and abundant life Jesus has for them. This Oct 1st I will be traveling to Naha, Japan to study Japanese at ICLC. I will be going with my long time friend and brother in Christ Wesley Palmer.

Please continue to pray for God to work in me and around me so that the love of Jesus may be made known!

Blessings,

Jesse
