God’s Protection

The Holy Spirit protects us from the enemy, disease, sickness & situations we cannot control that can harm us (Psalm 91, Mark 10:45, 16:18, 2 Timothy 4:18, 1 John 5:18). This protection is facilitated by faith and abiding in Jesus. The following are examples:

  • Jesus touches the Leper: Despite it being “unwise” to touch someone with Leprosy, He did not get sick and the leper got healed (Matthew 8:3)

  • Paul gets bitten by the snake: Paul did not know about the snake and would have died as a result of the bite (Acts 28:1-6)

  • Paul is saved from getting killed by people: The plans of the wicked against Paul were thwarted (Acts 23:12-35)

  • Jesus passing through the angry crowd: Despite the obvious intent to harm Jesus, He was not allowed to be touched (Luke 4:28-30)

The Exceptions

  • Being killed or persecuted for the name of Jesus (Matthew 10:17, Revelation 6:7-9)

  • Not living by faith or not abiding in Jesus (Psalm 91, Matthew 13:58)
