Financial Giving/Tithing

Financial giving or tithing (10% of what you earn) to people doing ministry is a part of obeying God. God had His Church do this so that people who are devoted full time to serving Him in the capacity of ministry (evangelism, pastoring, leading worship & etc), could do so and still be able to pay their expenses (Hebrews 7, 1 Timothy 5:17-18, 1 Corinthians 9:6-14, 2 Corinthians 8,9, Numbers 18:21). Everyone should be giving and it does not have to be limited to money. In fact there is even a part where God talks about how not giving a tithe is considered stealing from Him (Malachi 3:8-10). There is no direct command for the specific amount to give in the New Testament. Generous giving is encouraged and there is a general theme in scripture of giving a tithe of what you receive to ministry (2 Corinthians 9:6-9, Genesis 14:20, Leviticus 27:30-33) .

Application
